  1. Guns’n’Hoses Bible Fellowship – Brentwood, TN
This is a structured forum for Bible study addressing themes, topics, and content relevant to first responders. They are designed to create greater unity between the service types, and to build a stronger foundation for their spiritual life, teaching Biblical principals relative to their occupation.
Robert Michaels will provide a detailed presentation to college and university audiences or professional conferences that provides a comprehensive look at:
    *   the role of first responder Chaplaincy – what they do – and what they do not do. *   *   the need for the  services of Crisis Line, Trauma Services in the first responder professions, and the the stressors that lead to suicide, addictions, divorce, domestic violence, and other emotional maladies impacting these professions. Likewise, he will argue that attending to the mental and emotional health of first responders is as critical as attending to their physical health – insisting that mental or emotional struggle is not weakness, rather, caused by the traumatic nature of the professions. He will encourage professionals to ask for help, and for leadership to encourage help without stereotyping.

Starting with becoming a MP, and later Detective with Norfolk VA PD, Rob has been on a journey of 41 years. Along the way, he worked in sales, cleaned bathrooms, was a weekend radio announcer, was hired on at an advertising agency and became a VP of a boutique marketing firm, worked for 3 decades in the music biz in marketing and PR, and ran a non-profit for the Newsboys building homes for single moms in Mexico. Yep, enough to give a career planner nightmares.

From his time at Columbia Bible  Rob began doing pulpit supply, and at Wheaton, did quite a bit, serving in area Churches. Speaking at events like the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers and leading Guns’n’Hoses for 4 years and filling in teaching Sunday School at Brentwood United Methodist, Rob has the opportunity to talk about God’s work in his life, his work, and our world. Whether speaking at a Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, or Shriners, Rob’s faith is the foundation on which his message is built. He calls his career a “Recalculated Route,” a career path that was constructed by God to accomplish His purpose. As Michaels says, each stop, every skill, all the relationships has prepared him to do his calling with Serve & Protect, and tells that story through Proverbs 3:5-6/
